New De Castelli showroom opening in Milan

On 12th April De Castelli opens the new showroom in Milan. A project by Cino Zucchi.

Situated just a short walk from its previous location in Corso Monforte, the new wider space welcomes clients, partners, architects and professionals showing De Castelli pieces of furniture, surfaces as well as the large library of metal finishes.

The De Castelli showroom opens at No. 20, Via Visconti di Modrone, in the brightly-lit rooms that had previously been home to an art gallery, in a historical and architectural context of the “old Milan“. From now on it will become a place for meeting and project development.

The new space, designed by Cino Zucchi Architetti, successfully showcases the brand’s three core businesses: Collection, Surfaces, and Architectural.

The long-lasting collaboration with Cino Zucchi also led to other projects such as the Copycat installation and the Archimbuto entrance (“The Archi-funnel”) at Biennale of Architecture in Venice or to the recent project for the boutique Almini.

The design of the interior does not constitute a simple background for the samples and products, but concretely shows the potential in collaborating with the company: a “think-tank” where design imagination, craftsmanship and continuous technological research are intertwined to generate new original creations.

New “Copper At Home” capsule collection

The new De Castelli project is dedicated to the home. The home because we all wish to furnish the places we live in and share with our loved ones with products which are both beautiful and useful as well as safe and healthy. Identifying these themes, De Castelli has teamed up with 4 pairs of designers – Lanzavecchia + Wai, Martinelli Venezia Studio, and Zanellato/Bortotto, Adriano design – who have devised a new form of artistic expression working exclusively with copper, one of De Castelli’s signature metals.

The natural beauty of copper returns to prominence: left free from any protective surface treatments, it’s transformed into a living material, which varies over time, in concert with the people using the objects. Thus, entrance hall furniture, a bar cabinet, a games table or complementary furniture becomes precious and takes centre stage in our day-to-day activities.

The products in the new “Copper at Home” project will be unveiled at the new De Castelli showroom in Milan. This will be a special occasion to tell about the creative and production research conducted by the company, which has continued its unceasing quest to embrace contemporary themes within a frame that speaks of materia and design culture signed by Cino Zucchi.

Drops coffee tables win the Archiproducts Design Awards 2020

We are delighted to announce that our new product Drops designed by Zanellato/Bortotto is the winner of the Archiproducts Design Awards 2020.

Drops is the result of an intense research not only on metal and its potential but also on the rediscovery of ancient tecniques. The tables are thus a nod to a tradition that, given a contemporary interpretation, shapes products capable of expressing the highest craftsmanship in metalworking.

The new forest DeNuance and ocean DeNuace finishes on copper, developed by De Castelli, give the object an organic and natural appearance thanks to the combined action of fire, oxidation and pigments.

New behaviors, new objects

The new De Castelli project is dedicated to the home.

The home because, in just a short space of time, we’ve found ourselves having to deal with new ways of living and interacting with the outside world, and we’ve had to rapidly adapt both the way we behave and our needs.

The home because we all wish to furnish the places we live in and share with our loved ones with products which are both beautiful and useful as well as safe and healthy.

The natural beauty of copper returns to prominence: left free from any protective surface treatments, it’s transformed into a living material, which varies over time without altering ts antibacterial properties, in concert with the people using the objects.

Identifying these themes, De Castelli has teamed up with 3 pairs of designers who have devised a new form of artistic expression working exclusively with copper, one of De Castelli’s signature metals.

The products in the new De Castelli “Copper at Home” project will be unveiled for the first time at EDIT Napoli.

2021 Preview at Milan design city

On the occasion of the Milan design city, the shop window of the De Castelli Flagship store is colored with new nuances and dimensions, as a result of intense experimentation on the infinite shades of fired enamel on copper.

De Castelli, former caretaker of exclusive techniques and finishes in metalworking, retraces and recovers the history of an ancient art capable of giving life to unique and precious surfaces.

From the collaboration with the skilled enameller Repetto and Zanellato/Bortotto studio a profound reflection, in which craftsmanship marries the corporate identity and the author design, arises.

Copper: new project scenarios

Special pieces of furniture like reception desks and counters for hotels, bars and restaurants, precious objects for home and collective spaces, surfaces for wall and floor coverings: De Castelli always uses copper for many projects, choosing this element among unique metals in order to transform it for architecture.

As well as being a natural material, copper is also antibacterial. Discover more about copper and its characteristic visting the European Copper Institute website.

Starting from the information coming from the scientific community, we are entering an innovative path by collaborating with university researchers in order to find out a productive solution able to preserve the antibacterial characteristic of copper and its alloys.

In the near future, copper could be used in the healthcare construction sector and in public and residential architecture as an aid to make projects and products aesthetically pleasant and safe at the same time.
